We’re off to Disney

Almost everyone is in bed asleep for our early morning rising.  Disney is coming tomorrow for us!  We are so excited.  Miami is so much fun.  I can’t wait to share all of the details with images {uhm when I remember to get out the camera that is….  DUH!}, but for now here are 5 images I saw this evening when doing a little personal editing.

I got the camera all set up with Maddie and Blake up on the ladder, got it focused on Madison, set the timer and ran over to get a picture of…. Me.  lol  Here I am.  :-)

Madison consented to come back for another couple and this was the best I got.  I love her face though with her mischievous look.

She had a rough day at the park this morning.  It was wet so they got all the droplets off of the slides with their behinds, she wouldn’t wear shoes with the wet bits getting into her sandals, she found all the spots that had wet debris on the equipment & had a runny nose.  And she was delighted with the adventure!  Love my wreck of a girl.

This image just before we left of Blake is adorable.

However, this look melts my heart completely.  We are trying to break this new yucky habit of putting everything in his mouth like a puppy.  If it isn’t his fingers it’s whatever is in front of him.  I’m so glad lead paint isn’t used anymore, and I also hope his immune system is up for the challenge of his recent slobberings.

No computer at all for me the next two days!

Have a fantastic Thanksgiving!!!

Miami – We heart you!

We have made it to Miami!  Oh my, it is just as great as it was the last two times we’ve been here this year.  I’ve already talked to friends, felt the local vibe and seen wonderful vistas.  If it wasn’t so stinkin expensive to live here, we would love to.

I said I would never get those little DVD players to put in our vehicles.  Wrong!  When you are looking at a total of 12 hours of just driving one way without stops and two 2 year olds the potential crazy factor changes a mind quite quickly!  We spent just at $200 getting a dual monitor system that buckles onto the front headrests along with cushy earphones designed for kids.  Then we spent an additional $100 on classic Disney movies we didn’t own, but I wished we did to show the kids.  They worked quite well.  The Lion King was definitely not a good choice to show 2 year olds for the first time without parents sitting next to them to help them through the dramatic scenes.  Lesson learned.  Toy Story and Cinderella, however, were super well received.  Finding Nemo was well loved by Blake and Maddie got bored {I think with movie time in general} about a third a way through.

All in all the drive down was great for such a long long drive.  Guy did much of the drive though I felt we got to spend some good quality time together all the way down.  We chatted, listened to talk radio, listened to music and helped the kids together.  With him driving I was able to work my fingers to get some crochet work done to figure out how to adapt a couple patterns to my crochet gauge {so not the same as the pattern maker!}.  I was able to complete a hat & scarf for Blake along with a hat and diaper cover for the photography business.  Not bad.

We are all looking forward to seeing my mom when she flies in tomorrow!  Madison has been talking about it most of all.  She is so excited to see her grandma, dance with her, have a party and whatever else her mind has decided on.  We decided to give in to the party suggestion since Madison has been convinced her grandma is having a party we give her for a couple weeks.  We bought a few party novelties and a cake to surprise her with tomorrow.  I can write about this since she will definitely not read it before her flight tomorrow morning!  It’s about bedtime for her and an early flight to boot.

I’ll save our other surprises for when we have current images of those events to share.  Let’s just say the kids will not be getting anything but hand me downs for Christmas with what we have spontaneously decided to spend on this trip!  We are going to have so much fun!!!!

We had our big anatomy ultrasound this week as well.  We confirmed our belief we are having a boy.  There was no mistaking his little boy part!  All of us are very happy.  He measured right where he is supposed to and showed all normal function and form to all the organs, bones and systems they checked.  Great news!  Now it’s onto figuring out a list of top names to choose from when we meet him.  Oh, and don’t forget to pray for him to be born nice and healthy on April 18th!  lol   Yes, I’m crazy and want all my kids to have the same birthday.  His due date is April 21st so it’s a reasonable request.  All is well sitting here with a small baby bump at 18 weeks pregnant.

Some recent images to share:

She pushed herself to go faster.

They loved pumping the water out.

Just after this Guy sprained his ankle badly falling the last couple steps down the stairs helping one of them slide down the banister.  It still hurts him over a week later.

Pointing out a tiny squirrel in the trees.

Blake is taking a pretzel out each time he passes the bowl as he is going back and forth.

Watching TV…

Some pretzel antics.

She thinks she’s funny…

The ankle swelling.

My handiwork on the hat and neck wrap.  Not sure why she is sooooo serious.

But then she smiled!  Love my new backdrop!

Goofy boy.

State Fair Trip part 2

I’m going to try a different way of sharing lots of images.  I entered captions with each image so hopefully they show up as you are looking at the gallery and in a Reader program.

Part 3 up next….

Our state fair trip part 1

Ahhhhh, I couldn’t get my pictures to load into my blogging program for two full days!  Uhmm, it turns out Flash partially quit working on me, but I didn’t notice since it was a partial quit.  I hadn’t turned off the computer for days so a reboot this morning did the trick!  Now I can finally share our trip to the state fair.  It’s broken into three posts since there are so many images.

We walked into the fair to be greeted by Bubba’s show just starting.

They watched for a few minutes and laughed a few times.  None of us were super into it so we decided to motor on.  The kids wanted to walk so we got them out of the stroller.

I was snapping a couple images when I hear Blake loudly telling Bubba goodbye.   It was so loud it got his attention.  He stopped the show to tell our Blake bye back!  lol  That’s our kid.

We got a sheet of ride tickets through the Town of Garner at the government group buy rate.  It was enough for the kids to go on 4 rides by themselves or two with us.  We wanted them to get more enjoyment so told them to go by themselves.  Madison saw the jungle gym trailer set up fun house style.  Guy handed her three tickets and she immediately climbed the six feet of ladder and steps to hand over her tickets to the man.  Blake started up and paused as soon as he realized neither Guy or I were following.   This is him telling us we need to go too.

After finally convincing him to go he stopped just after or before each obstacle and whined for us.  We kept encouraging him to catch up to Maddie while trying to get her to wait up for him.

She really thought it was the funnest thing ever.

Still only half way through and there is a hint of fun along with concern here.

The rope ladder was the toughest challenge for them since it kind of caved in so they were leaning back while climbing towards the top.  A cute bigger kid was just behind them and helped by giving Blake’s booty a boost.

Madison never looked back or over at us while she thoroughly enjoyed herself.

Another panicky moment for Blake as he headed up to the very top for the grand finale of the slide.

She even gave herself a giant push off to go down this slide faster!

One of the ride attendants helped Blake though I’m sure he would have done this part all on his own seeing me at the bottom and being very familiar with slides.  He’s finally smiling!

Here comes my kiddos.

I really think she is going to love rides and amusement parks as much as I do!  We went to Disneyland once a year when I was a kid.  I’ll never get tired of it.  We always went on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride first.  And you know what?  Guy’s family does the same thing.  He and his family were really the perfect family for me to marry into!!

Ummm, Houston….

Someone is really excited to run into his sister not getting off fast enough!

“Hey, I just hit Maddy!”

We let them go on one more ride right away.  Both of them saw the kiddy coaster going round and wanted to go on.  Here Blake is handing over his own tickets.  Madison is already climbing into her car.  I asked the Guy if they could ride together as Guy was going up to help Blake get in.

Guy didn’t hear me ask the Guy or him say yes.  Blake walked to his own car thinking Guy was getting in with him.  He’s just realized here he is on his own.

Happy girl and teary boy who isn’t asking to get out.  The operator asked Guy if it was OK to start it, and he said go for it.

It started with a bit of a jerk which I caught perfect!

This is basically how the whole ride went.  Huge smile from Madison and a cry from Blake.

She even checked on him a few times with her enormous smile.  I still think he would have been fine if he was riding with her.

There’s one other kid not quite enjoying herself here.

Oh, this is both so funny and so sad.

Those eyes are pleading with Guy to come get him.

Being with toddlers it is a must to visit the bathroom at least once during our few hour stay there.  Madison has found out she loves hand dryers.

My little big girl.

Part 2 next….

I’ll take your picture Maddy

So you may have noticed if you have read my blog for any length of time at all that I hardly ever write Madison’s name the same way.  This shouldn’t be surprising to those who know me.  Names are a super important thing.  It effects your whole life.  We didn’t settle on names for the kids until after we met them in the hospital.  Even the way you spell a nickname can put you in with the popular kids, the independents or the weirdos.  :-) I thought I was going to die when there was another kid in class with my same name in 5th grade.  The problem?  HE was very unkept, poorly dressed and overweight.  Suddenly my name wasn’t just for girls and also belonged to someone who was treated poorly by most of the other 5th graders.  Oh yeah, and I was taller then everyone else in class and always wore last years styles.  Of course, experiences like this make us who we are today.   Boy was that all off track….  Back to the spelling of my baby girls name.  Deciding on exactly how to spell her nickname has been hard.  Maybe I’ll just keep doing it several different ways and let her pick when she is old enough.  She definitely prefers to be called Maddie, and she always tells someone that is her name when asked instead of Madison.

The kids are so into imagining.  I absolutely love it.  Each day they come up with new and wonderful things to pretend play.  Blake had Guy and I laughing tonight when Guy mentioned to him he still hadn’t gotten a kiss from him.  He asked for a kiss and Blake said no.  One of us asked Blake why.  He told us because daddy was an ogre.  We were all hanging out in the living room alternating between watching TV, reading and playing.  Guy and I were watching a Little Couple we’d recorded when Guy told me I had to check out what they were doing just beyond my sight behind the end of the couch.  I hear Blake telling Madison, “I’ll take your picture.”   I see this…..

They were behind the ‘camera’ taking turns taking pictures of each other!

Since I’m hardly in front of a camera, I hadn’t even thought how I look to them.  LOL  It sure is pretty funny.

Madison was cracking up here.  The little stinker ruined my first 2 shots by being getting in the way both times.  What I didn’t realize until Guy pointed it out was that she was purposely trying to walk in between the camera and Blake to mess up my shot.  She thought my reaction the first time was so funny.

Then she wanted a shot of her taking a picture too.

Tomorrow I promise to post the fair images and the kids triumphant story.  I’ll even upload them before bed tonight so I only have to write the text.
